SHS #2 - Rabbits
I'm walking my dogs on the beach.
Brilliant blue sky, a gentle breeze.
The beach almost all to ourselves.
Suddenly Diane, a German Longhaired Pointer, starts searching very intensely.
Clearly scent on the wind, but nothing to be seen.
The circles she cuts grow smaller and smaller.
She stands still, nose to the ground.
Sophie, a wirehaired Dachshund, looks on with interest.
Diane starts scratching at a spot where I see nothing.
As if she were a little fox, she scratches out a bait pit.
Suddenly, squeaking.
Diane has caught a very young rabbit.
She retrieves it neatly.
As I take the little rabbit from her, little Sophie has one too.
I hear crunching.
In no time she has eaten it up.
Retrieving isn't her thing.
Not very ladylike, but very tasty, by the looks of it.
